Sure some of their updates have been buggy, and other times have messed up performance or any number of annoying issues (which is also par for the course with Autodesk updates), granted. I know I won't need to go in and reset all my preferences, reset all my shortcuts, let alone re-install new versions of plugins! And I do mean never! Like not once since they started the subscription model have I needed to fix or re-install plugins and preferences. Do you know who actually understands how to do this process of updates right? Adobe.Īdobe is far from perfect in the the way they do things, but one thing I do know: When the Adobe Desktop app shows 5-6 of my Suite applications have updates (or even all), I never once worry whether it's going to set me back to square one with my workflow. None of it adds up to being more important the level of disruption a new install is going to present, and that's only if said install goes perfectly and there aren't any hidden bugs in the release.Īt the very least Autodesk needs to explicitly detail which, if any, plugins of customizations that work with 2021 will need updating or not. The security enhancements mean next to nothing for me as I don't use many custom or purchased scripts but again, that should be an embedded point release, not an "upgrade" feature.
Sure, a couple of nifty enhancements, stuff I'd like to use but nothing that screamed "game changer" that's for sure. This is exactly the question I had when I read over the feature list.
